My budget was $50, I hoped to find some low calorie snacks, yogurt, possibly some Mountain Dew for my husband when he gets home, and I wanted to check the prices on things I usually stock up on like hot sauce and maybe some hair products. I have been waiting for a long time to find cheap or free toothbrushes, so I hoped to find some of those too. Here is what I ended up taking home.
I brought home ten bottles of Texas Pete hot sauce for $0.69 each, a Bounce Dryer Bar for $4.49, ten bottles of Ivory body wash that were on sale 10 for $10 and I had a $1 off one body wash coupon which made them free. I also bought nine bags of Quaker Rice at $0.89 each, six 2-liters at $0.84 each, three Colgate toothbrushes for $0.23 each, five Listerine pocket packs which were also on $10 for 10 but I had a $1 off coupon, so they were free as well, and finally I got six 4 packs of Yoplait yogurt for $1.99 each.
I spent $43.92, which was $6.08 under my budget. I ended up getting a lot of extra things I did not plan on getting, so that was a nice surprise. The most fun I have couponing is finding the unadvertised deals and clearance items. The Listerine Pocket packs, Ivory body wash, Reach floss, and Colgate were all deals that I just happened to come across. The Mountain Dew was advertised, but I did not notice it until I got in the store. It is my husband's favorite and I thought it would be a fun surprise to have waiting for him when he comes home along with all the extra hot sauce. Tonight ended up being such a nice evening - it was nice to have something to do to prepare for my husband being home. Often times I feel frustrated because while waiting for Jonathan to receive his medical discharge, there is nothing I can do but sit and wait for news.
Have you gotten any good deals lately?
Well, I "tried" too....While the kids were in youth group Sunday night (adults didn't meet) I clipped coupons at church. Evidently I left them all there! Otherwise , I would have gotten free ivory soap. I am sure they are still there, waiting for me. We attend a small church and they all will know they are mine!
ReplyDeleteI completely understand!! One day I gathered all my coupons then arrived at the store and realized I had left my coupon binder at home. I drove home and back to the store, only to realize that the envelope of coupons that were counted out for the deals I planned to do were at home. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. I was so frustrated I actually waited until the next day to go! We all have those days!
